Logistics
Getting There
The main airport in Oslo is Oslo Lufthavn. There is a train called FlytoGet, which runs every 20 minutes and allows easy, quick access to the city. The journey between the city center and the airport is 20 minutes and tickets can be purchased at FlytoGet machines at the airport. The main station in the city is Oslo S.
Taxis are another option, but Norway is very expensive. A trip from the city to the airport is likely around 650 – 850 Norwegian Krones which is about $70 – $90.
Getting Around
The main area of the city is quite walkable, but some excursions require public transit to access.
To visit Oslo’s ski jump and some of the museums, you will want to use the metro. Take line #1 (blue) to Holmenkollen. From the National Theater station to Holmenkollen, the trip took about 15 minutes. You can purchase tickets at the station, but be sure to validate the ticket before getting on the metro.
Accommodations
Staying near the Grand Palace, National Theater, Aker Brygge area, or the Opera House will put you in a central location with easy access to the main downtown area.

Other Notes
Duration
Oslo is a fairly accessible European city that is nice to explore, but not one you need a lot of time visiting. Consider only spending one-day here and instead then venturing outside the city to see the fjords or hike in Norway.
Expense
Norway is known for being a very expensive country to visit, and in fact, is one of the most expensive countries in the world so can be a challenging location to visit on a budget. Plan ahead, but be prepared to spend money. In Norway, the currency is the Norwegian Krone.
